90s Rock versus Contemporary Pop – Crimsonian

My song genre is pop-rock. In modern pop, they have bright and colorful costumes and style of clothing. This keeps the interest of the viewers and fits their style or narrative. The lighting will also be often bright and full of bright colors to help create this positive feel to the music for the audience. However, since my music video is pop-rock, everything is often the opposite of this. The lighting may not be as bright as in pop and vibrant too. Since rock is known for more dark and duller colors. The style of pop music is most often narrative, where it can be a mixture of narrative and performance. It could either be linear and fragmented. Where the narration will usually revolve around a love interest and lifestyle of partying. This will reach their targeted audience of teenagers who are involved in love and the partying lifestyle. For camera shots, it's usually a mix of wide and mid shots. This both allow the artists to show the location mostly and also show the subject impressions.  To show the emotions needed from the actor's faces, many variations of close-ups will also be needed to show the subject's facial expression. It also allows for you to see some lip-syncing. The camera angle will often be High angle and eye level to capture the emotional love story the artist is telling. The camera movements often use pan, dolly/zoom, and Steadicam. Depending of the tempo of the song the editing can be either fast or slow. It will allow the use of a wide range of transitions that are often jump cuts. The genre also uses parallel editing and colorizes the video to fits its colorful or darker genre creating a specific mood. For sound editing, it often is just timing the music with the video and adding non-diegetic sounds.
