Genre Decision Blog

I wanted my film project genre to be something that strays away from the most popular type, which is action. It needed to be something that I can easily film. It also had to be easily done with the locations that close to me. I didn't want to use many props and special costumes. The lighting had to be simple with what I can do outside. It also had to be known what genre I picked for my opening sequence when it's presented to my audience. I also reviewed all the research projects that were done to learn more about many other genres. Each had its own elements that would better the filming and editing process for me. The aspects needed to make a genre also had to be limited to a small number. I don't want my actors doing too much to bring the film genre to life.
Based on all this, I ended up with two genres I really wanted to do. Those genres were thriller and horror. These were both good genres to me that each had scary and fearful emotions involved. However, I wanted to do something more suspenseful rather than frightening. This led me to pick thriller as my genre. A good thriller brings out the moods in people when watching, and I want to do that. I want to heighten my viewer's feelings of suspense, surprise, and excitement. It also brings in anxiety and anticipation. I will feel joy by participating in making a mystery. All this help me know that thriller is the genre that will best fit me.
