Genre Research: Thriller

This was a project where I researched a genre. It was here to help me learn more about the genre of thrillers and what it mainly is to films. I learned what were some common lighting in this genre. It was mainly low-key lighting. It also includes some high lighting shots. The common camera angles are high and low angles. The common shots are over the should and eye-level shots. These are basically used to create a suspenseful feeling between characters and what's happening in their location. Some common movements are tracking, handheld, tilts, and dolly. The common setting types or Mich-En-Scene are things that can create fear and suspense. These are dark setting types. These extend to the costume and makeup. It explains why the lighting is usually low. It also explains why characters have to create certain facial expressions and body language to give off suspense. There are multiple key elements when it comes down to creating a story. These elements are character growth on the main character. It also includes multiple points of view and something that drives for suspense, like the race against the clock. The sounds in a genre film are are sometimes subtle that drives towards a good story. These are quietness, heavy breathing, and beeping noises. These noises are very apparent to the viewers where this creates a feeling of suspense. What drives people towards this genre is the fear and suspense that it creates throughout the film.
