Title research: Get Out (2017)

 

What titles are displayed during the opening sequences? 

-I got the film from Art of the Title. It displayed the film distribution and production company. Next the title of the movie. Next was who film this was. Next the names of the all the lead actresses and actors in the movie.Next all the people who does things in the background which are casting, sound, music film editor, costume designer, production designer, etc.

What images are prioritized in the opening sequence? 

- It were wide images of someone putting someone putting in their car. Next it was images of tress in a woods. Next it was images of one of the characters house. Next it was images of one of the main character. Finally it was images of the other main characters meeting up with the man.

What connotations do these images carry? 

-They show a sense of mystery and horror. This was highlighted in the beginning of the title sequence.  They also show a that the woods and traveling are important. Finally it tells that these two characters are in a relationship. This comes together to tell us that they are traveling somewhere scary.

How does the film establish a feeling of the genre from the outset? 

- In the begging of the title sequence we witness a kidnapping. This tells us that this is something scary where it might be a horror film. We then see the characters are a couple where this mean something might happen to them. We can infer that the film is also a thriller as we are anxious on knowing whats might happen to them.

What strategies are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience? 

-They quickly introduced a kidnapping scene at the start. This will appeal to the people who came to watch a horror movie. We also are introduced to a couple where we can see they are important to what happened and the story. This appeal to the people who like thriller. The targeted may be horror and thriller where the film accomplished this.

 How has technology been used effectively? 

- The use of camera angles and editing helped put the title together in a smooth way. The wide shots, mid shots, and close up were used to help established the scenes and the characters. The transitions between the scenes sh ow that proper editing was used.
